Description

For me, bright of moon is a wonderful opportunity to go through one's archive and see if any image sessions - initially deemed unworthy of Astrobin - can be resurrected using increased post-processing experience, or more usually,  better software tools.

Some OSC data I took 6 months of the Vela/Puppis region iilustrates this point.    Initially I had deemed it too boring to publish, since the Vela SNR in OSC is pretty faint.   But, in re-looking at the area to see if I could recover ABC fields from it [I can't], I realised that my previous background extraction has rendered the area a little dull.

Without background extraction, the galactic stellar gradient really makes for a much more interesting image.  The Vela SNR, still faint, it still visible through the golden haze of the galactic pane, contrasting well with the sparser region of the great Puppis nebula.
